China has busted a counterfeit wine operation worth an estimated $26 million, which authorities said had been in business for three years.
The fraudsters were caught passing off cheap wine in high quality bottles with labels bearing the Penfolds brand name, one of Australia’s oldest and largest wineries.
Penfolds has been targeted by counterfeiters before, but this was one of the biggest busts of fake wine ever made by China, according to reports.
